SUMMARY

Energy Materials Corporation is seeking a passionate Solar PV Device Metrology Technician to participate in technology development of thin film photovoltaic devices at our Rochester, NY facility.  This position will support the commercialization of perovskite-based solar modules for production on high-speed roll-to-roll coating and printing equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Routine characterization of solar cell materials and devices
  • Implementing, operating, and maintaining PV material and device metrology tools
  • Preparing, sharing, and presenting measurement data in various formats that simplify data analysis
  • Maintaining and updating standard operating procedures of various equipment
  • Helping in the development of new metrology tools, techniques, and equipment for testing PV in an R&D lab
  • Helping in the discovery and demonstrations of solutions to technical issues limiting performance of high efficiency photovoltaic devices
  • Helping in the planning and execution of device metrology experiments

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of photovoltaic device physics or willingness to learn
  • Working knowledge of solar cell fabrication methods or willingness to learn
  • R&D lab experience in materials and device fabrication and/or characterization
  • Basic coding experience in Python, MATLAB, LabView or similar programming languages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Driven, Hands-on individual with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary, multi-location team environment with ambitious goals and deadlines

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

BSc Degree (MSc Preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.  Two plus years of research or industry experience in PV related process or equipment development.
