SUMMARY
Energy Materials Corporation is seeking talented and passionate scientists and engineers to develop thin film photovoltaic devices at our Rochester, NY facility. This exciting position will support the commercialization of perovskite-based solar modules for production on high-speed roll-to-roll coating and printing equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Innovate and develop next-generation solar productsas a member of a cross-functional team of scientists and engineers, including partners at US National Labs, leading universities and both large corporations and small startup companies
- Analyze performance of photovoltaic devices based on understanding of photophysical mechanisms
- Conceive, plan and execute experiments on lab scale and pilot scale coating and sintering equipment
- Ensure smooth transition of benchtop methods for use on pilot production equipment
- Discover and demonstrate solutions to technical issues limiting performance of high efficiency photovoltaic devices
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Engineer, Chemist, or Material Scientist with Ph. D., M.S., or B.S.
- Strong laboratory skills and advanced technical skills
- Capable of planning and executing complex experiments and keeping detailed records
- Driven, hands-on individual with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary, multi-location team environment with ambitious goals and deadlines
- Excellent team rapport with all levels of the organization, and with external suppliers and consultants
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of charge transport and perovskite photovoltaic materials
- Solution coating experience
- Track record of innovation and in solving complex technical problems
- A good understanding of photovoltaic device physics and familiarity with solar cell/module fabrication methods
- Proven work experience in relevant industry or startup
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of photovoltaic device characterization techniques (i.e., photoluminescence, transmission/reflectance, electroluminescence, quantum efficiency, current vs voltage etc.)
