Purebred Perovskite Photovoltaic Technology
At EMC, our focus is purebred perovskite solar. With its outsized advantages in simplified manufacturing, exceptional high efficiency solar energy conversion, and proven durability, our product plan consists of single junction (one solar cell layer), bifacial and tandem junction (two solar cell layers) perovskite solar modules. Our centering on purebred perovskite eliminates the high CapEx manufacturing cost and supply chain complexity found with hybrid multiple solar cell technology designs.
Perovskite manufacturing has the following key enablers which can lead to unlocking the potential of ubiquitous solar energy generation:
> Perovskite, a mineral compound found in the earth’s crust, can be synthesized from common chemicals that are recyclable, eliminating the need for mining and processing.
> Perovskite modules can be manufactured using low cost ink-based processes without high cost semiconductor facilities and accompanying slow throughput speeds.
> Perovskite printing leads to high manufacturing yield, as defects in material printing have low impact on the overall device efficiency.
> EMC’s mature pilot scale-up process allows for process development on low cost, narrow web widths which then transport to meter-wide web manufacturing in straightforward manner without defect limitations. This represents a significant advantage compared to traditional semiconductor-based solar photovoltaic thin-film manufacturing.
